RECORD SUBMISSIONS FOR NARRABRI GAS PROJECT

The Narrabri Gas Project has attracted a record response to its public exhibitition period with almost 23,000 submissions.

The Department of Planning has been overwhelmed, receiving the most submissions ever lodged for a development application.

Around 18,000 are said to be objections but only 500 submissions have originated from the local Narrabri area.

The project has also attracted international interest with close to 200 overseas submissions.

The public exhibition period was extended by 28-days due to the extensive interest in the project.

  1. But will Santos take heed of the very real concerns of this type of unconventional gas extraction. Worlds best practice has failed in damage to aquifers world wide, the emissions from this project are a big issue, farmers, the environment, the aquifers are all vunerable … It is time to stop this project in its tracts, put into place a Domestic Gas Reserve so Australian citizen owned gas is not shipped offshore for far cheaper prices than what we are paying her in Australia putting our other industries at risk. Enough is enough this planet we live on needs more responsibly sourced energy.
