HIGH NUMBER OF SPEEDING OFFENCES OVER THE LONG WEEKEND

Manning-Great Lakes Police have released the local statistics from Operation Stay Alert over the long weekend.
600 drivers were breath tested, with five allegedly over the legal limit.
Police say they’re stunned by the number of speeding offences.
“Obviously it was a wet weekend and it was really disappointing that there was still 76 drivers in this area given tickets for speeding,” said Chief Inspector Christine George.
They say the message doesn’t seem to be sinking in.
“A vehicle we got doing 172km/hr in a 100km/ph zone. People have no idea how much damage they can cause and if they leave the road they don’t have much chance.”
