Police are treating a unit fire in a Newcastle suburb earlier today as suspicious.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fire on Fowler Street in Hamilton South, around 6am.
Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, and a 46-year-old male resident was taken to John Hunter Hospital with minor smoke inhalation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
