CYCLOCROSS RIDERS GET DOWN AND DIRTY

The wet weather made life tough for some athletes this weekend, but it didn’t deter competitors in the second round of the New South Wales Cyclocross season at Adamstown.

Started in Europe a century ago, this form of racing sees riders tackle a range of obstacles, and even sometimes carrying the bike.

Today’s elite men’s final came down to a duel between Sydney’s Garry Millburn and the Hunter’s Chris Aitken.

Following an hour-long battle, Millburn grabbed the win by just a few seconds.
