MINE SUBSIDENCE ZONES IDENTIFIED AT CURLEWIS

Curlewis property owners may be on shaky ground, after the state’s Subsidence Advisory identified 55 properties potentially in mine subsidence zones.

The recent review will see Gunnedah Shire Council and Curlewis residents more cautious when it comes to building new infrastructure.

“From a planning perspective, it’s important for us, that each of those properties is identified on Section 1499 planning certificates, and also any applications for developments on those sites we will refer to Subsidence Advisory NSW,” said Gunnedah Shire Council Director of Planning and Environmental Services, Andrews Johns.

Property owners affected by mine subsidence can apply for compensation from the state government.
