NEWCASTLE COUNCILLORS REJECT PAY RISE, BUT CONFIRM RATE RISE

The council approved the move last night.
Meanwhile Newcastle councillors voted to forego a state-recommended pay rise, and instead use the money to upgrade Wallsend’s town centre.
