After turning professional two days ago, Charlestown golfer Jake Higginbottom has blasted his way to the lead in the opening round of the NSW PGA.
He started the day with a flurry of birdies, but this bogey on the second saw him finish the day at 7 under par.
Fellow Novocastrian Brendan Smith had a blistering front nine to sit just one shot off the lead.
A host of players are in a tie for third, only two shots back.
