Wildlife conservation group, Devil Ark has recorded an unprecedented breeding season.
The Barrington Tops program has witnessed the birth of 51 endangered Tasmanian devil joeys, the not for profit breeding facility revelling in the success of another record breaking season.
Each female devil gave birth to over 30 tiny joeys, but only the first four that attach to a teat will endure, so it’s survival of the fittest from the minute they are born.
The joeys are now four months old, but will stay in the pouch for another couple of months.
They will then leave the pouch and venture out on mums back before dispersing around Christmas and joining the breeding population.
