BELLINGEN SHIRE SEEKS FUNDING AFTER FLOODING

Bellingen Shire Council is seeking disaster relief funds after flooding over the weekend caused widespread damage.
The repair bill for roads and bridges is expected to be more than $1million.
Kalang Road was the worst hit with wash-outs and landslips in several locations.
“Our budget simply will not cover the million plus dollars that will be required to get these roads back to a reasonable condition,” said Bellingen Mayor Mark Troy.
Kalang Road remains open to traffic but drivers are being urged to take care and travel slowly.
