GAP WIDENS BETWEEN BUSINESS AND CONSUMER CONFIDENCE

The latest snapshot of the Hunter’s economy shows a widening gap between business and consumer confidence.
The Hunter Research Foundation says the majority of local businesses reported satisfactory or better profitability in the quarter to June.
In contrast, the last three months has seen lacklustre spending across Hunter households.
The foundation says low wage growth and high household debt are likely to continue restricting how much people spend.
