RAIN WASHES AWAY FINAL DAY OF MATTARA LAWN BOWLS

Rain has wreaked havoc on the final day of the Mattara Lawn Bowls finals, with three events called off due to a torrential downpour.
Earlier in the day, in prestigious Classic Triples, the team of Matthew Baus, Sam Luguzza and Laurie Wright from Swansea held a one shot lead over Lennon Scott’s crew from Raymond Terrace heading into the 20th end.
When play was abandoned, the sides were declared joint winners.
The men’s open fours did find a winner, with the Soldiers Point team lead by Neville Downes claiming the title.
