HUNTER VIETNAM SOLIDERS REMEMBERED

The Hunter has paused to remember 19 local soldiers who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.

Now in its 41st year, the service began with a march by veterans and members of the armed forces…

Before a special ceremony was held at Newcastle’s Vietnam memorial.

“We’ve got to remember those guys that were killed in Vietnam. The 19 we have from the Newcastle and Hunter region, they’ve got an average age of 24. They didn’t live their life very long and they died in the service of their country,” said Stephen Finney from the Newcastle Hunter Region Vietnam Veterans.
