MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF 12-YEAR-OLD
Police have charged a man who allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted a young girl on the Central Coast three months ago.
The incident is alleged to have occurred as the 12-year-old girl was walking to school at Narara, back in May.
Following extensive investigations, a 31-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop at Lake Haven about 9.30pm yesterday.
Officers also searched a home at Woongarrah, where they seized a number of items.
The man was charged with a string of offences including kidnap with intent to commit a serious indictable offence, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, aggravated sexual assault, and possessing a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was also charged over incidents involving a young girl known to him, that allegedly took place between October 2016 and April 2017.
While in custody, he suffered a medical episode and was taken to Wyong Hospital for treatment.
The man was refused bail and remains in hospital under police guard.
It is expected he will appear at Wyong Local Court at a later date.
