VINNIES CELEBRATES OP SHOP WEEK

Love was in the air at Islington’s St Vincent de Paul store today, as part of celebrations for National Op Shop Week.

Singer John Paul Young and his piano player surprised staff and customers, with a rendition of his hit song.

“Love is in the air, every where I look around,” they sung.

“We’ve got an old derelict piano, and I thought, old derelict musso, old derelict singer so I thought we that would fit very well.”

It also helped launch an initiative in Newcastle, which will see mobile donation bins brought into workplaces.

“Once a month we’ll come and pick it up, or weekly if there’s a lot of donations, and get people to start spring cleaning that way we’ll know there will be good quality through our corporate sponsors,” Jenny Barrie from St Vincent de Paul’s said.
