HOME GROWN TALENT ON NATIONAL STAGE

The north west’s rugby nursery will see locally developed players suit up in round one of the National Rugby Championship this weekend.

Quirindi product Sam Carter has been named in the second row for the Canberra Vikings.

Taking on Queensland Country, the 27-year-old will be wanting to prove he deserves a Wallabies recall.

Tamworth’s Paddy Ryan will captain the New South Wales Country Eagles against Greater Sydney, and is joined in the side by Glen Innes’ Alex Newsome at fullback.
