ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES LAID AT PORT STEPHENS

A man will face court on animal cruelty charges after he allegedly killed a kookaburra in Port Stephens earlier this year.

Police say the 32 year-old man allegedly used an aluminium chair to hit the bird, before kicking it when it was on the ground at a licensed premise in Soldiers Point in July.

He is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court next month, where he will face a aggravated cruelty to animals charge.
