A bushfire north of Tenterfield has burnt out more than 3,400 hectares..
It peaked to a Watch and Act during the day, with firefighters employing a large air tanker, loaded at Dubbo to drop retardant on the blaze.
It has now been downgraded to an Advice level, and is under control.
