A bushfire north of Tenterfield has burnt out more than 3,400 hectares..
It peaked to a Watch and Act during the day, with firefighters employing a large air tanker, loaded at Dubbo to drop retardant on the blaze.
It has now been downgraded to an Advice level, and is under control.
It comes as the Rural Fire Service issued total fire bans to Northern Slopes and North Western fire zones, with Very High and Severe fire danger forecast for tomorrow.
