TWO NEW PALLIATIVE CARE NURSES ON THE CARDS FOR THE NORTH WEST

A $5-million state-wide funding announced from the government could not have come at a better time for Tamworth nurses.
The region’s calls for more palliative care specialists has been answered, with the New England set to secure funding for two new positions.
“Hunter New England has been successful in gaining some of those positions, so we’ll have an additional nurse practitioner her in Tamworth and an additional clinical nurse consultant in Moree,” Susan Heyman, Executive Director of Rural and Regional Health, Hunter New England.
The funding will be used to create a total of 30 new palliative care nurse positions across the state.
