Local team, Kokoda Spirit has won this year’s 96 kilometre Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast finishing in 12 hours and 25 minutes.
Mateship fuelled them the entire way.
“We set out to bring the record back to Queensland today and we did that so that was pretty cool and our other goals were to finish as a team and finish under 12:30, so we’re stoked, bring on the beer.”
Over 2000 people took part in the event, which honours the spirit of the diggers who first crossed the Kokoda Track in 1942.
More than $700 000 dollars was raised for disadvantaged youth.
