MINI TORNADO AT RED ROCK

A mini tornado has ripped through the small north coast community of Red Rock, just north of Coffs Harbour.

It tore through just before 6.30 this morning. Despite lasting just a few seconds, the tornado tore the roof from the local bowling club and damaged a handful of houses nearby.

The region is expecting wild weather care of a deep low pressure system off the coast. Heavy rainfall in the past 36 hours has cut the Pacific Highway near Grafton, while the highway is also underwater at Corindi to the north of Coffs Harbour. Traffic on the highway is banking up and descibed as heavy.
