TWEED’S NEW MAYOR MAKES FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE

The Tweed’s new mayor is aiming to attract clean energy technology jobs to the shire over the next 12 months.
Katie Milne was elected last week and says the region is in a good position to be leading the fight against climate change.
“I think it’s really important we embrace that challenge and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities and the job opportunities that can come from that”
The Greens member says claims that she’s anti-development are wrong and she wants to make the Council’s economic development strategy a reality.
However she wouldn’t comment on what will happen to Deputy Mayor Gary Bagnall, who’s accused of verbally abusing Councillor Carolyn Byrne at last week’s election.
