The curtain has closed for the last time on one of Australia’s best known vaudeville performers.
Gracie Le Brun, who along with husband Bobby, were the stars of travelling shows dating back to the 1940s, has died peacefully in her sleep.
The shows, complete with chorus lines and comedy acts, set up in tents, halls, showgrounds and clubs in cities and country towns, during the hay days of Australian variety entertainment.
Gracie who came to call Newcastle home, was 99 years old.
