NO NEED FOR CONCERN AT OXLEY BEACH AFTER THE REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has responded to fresh concerns surrounding the water quality at Oxley Beach.
It says its removed exposed asbestos from the area, after the material was discovered following heavy rainfall in April 20-16.
“Look we’re satisfied that its been remediated, the site and stabilised with the capping of the area, asbestos is problematic when it’s airborne but when its wet it’s not an issue” – Dan Croft, Port Macquarie Council.
Council says despite there being no risk of contamination, it will continue to monitor the area.
