Newcastle Independent Councillors have lodged rescission motion over a proposed pay increase for councillors.
Last week, Newcastle councillors voted in favour of the move which would see the Lord Mayor pocket $23,000 more each year.
The group, led by councillor Kath Elliott, says it’s inappropriate to increase pay-packets when the public have been dealt a rate rise.
