MOREE PREPARES FOR MORE FLOODING

In Moree Shire, some areas were hit by up to 250 millimetres of rain overnight.
The Mehi River, which runs through the town, is rising and expected to peak at 10.3 metres at 9am tomorrow morning – a level that hasn’t been seen since the 1970s.
Thousands of residents across the shire were ordered to leave their homes earlier today, while business owners are preparing the main street for flooding.
An evacuation centre has been created at Moree’s PCYC – the shire has been declared a natural disaster zone.
