MAN CHARGED OVER FATAL CAR CRASH AT WALCHA

A 27-year-old man has been charged following a fatal crash near Walcha on the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Thunderbolts Way late Saturday night, following reports a BMW sedan and taxi van had collided.

The 25-year-old passenger of the sedan died at the scene, while the 58-year-old female driver of the taxi was flown to John Hunter Hospital.

The driver of the sedan has been granted bail to appear at Armidale Local Court in February.

He’s been charged with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death, and two counts of cause bodily harm by misconduct while driving a vehicle.
