BLACKSMITHS BEACH GOERS TO BENEFIT FROM EYES IN THE SKY
Blacksmiths is one of nine beaches across New South Wales to receive priority funding for improved shark detection.
More than $30,000 of state government funding was secured by Lake Macquarie council to purchase drone equipment and train lifeguards to monitor shark activity from the sky.
“Any additional resource we can put out there to ensure our swimmers are safe is certainly a benefit to everybody…life guards included,” said Life Guard Paul Stone.
The drone is expected to be in the sky by next month.
