MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING POLICE PURSUIT
An unlicensed driver, driving a stolen car, has been arrested after a police pursuit in Newcastle on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old Belmont man was noticed when Highway Patrol caught him allegedly driving 112 kilometres per hour in a 70 zone along Thomas Street Wallsend.
Police say when they tried to stop the vehicle, he sped off initiating a pursuit.
Police lost the vehicle near Birmingham Gardens and later found it dumped in Wallsend.
The man was then arrested in Jesmond after police continued the pursuit on foot.
A vehicle check also showed the car had been recently reported several times for dangerous driving.
He will face Newcastle Local Court today charged with a range of driving offences.
