People gathered in Port Macquarie today, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generation.
A minute’s silence was held at the Birpai Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Former Aboriginal Woman of the Year Kristal Kinsela, acknowledging the gap between indigenous and non indigenous Australians has lessened, but there’s still a lot of work to be done in terms of employment and health.
“Look there’s been a lot of progress in certain areas, if you think about more young people finishing school, little children having preschool or early childhood experiences but we still have a long way to go” – Kristal Kinsela.
