VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MOREE FLOOD COMMITTEE
It may hold the state record for the most consecutive days over 35 degrees, but Moree is no stranger to flooding.
Council is calling for volunteers to help form a new floodplain risk management committee.
The group will be made up of council members, residents and representatives from the State Emergency Service.
Council says the committee will provide much needed local knowledge of flood behaviour in the town.
The last major flood was in February 20-12, which saw Moree inundated with water when the Mehi River burst its banks.
