NORTHERN TABLELANDS ON THE RISE

The Northern Tablelands is bucking the trend across country towns when it comes to population growth.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Regional Population Growth Report, the region has grown by 1,066 residents over the past five years – a far cry from the decline registered by similar rural regions.
Inverell showed the greatest growth with an increase of 460 people, while Uralla is also surging ahead with an extra 243 locals.
It’s not all good news however – the Gwydir shire has lost 63 residents while Moree Plains is also continuing to show a decline in population.
