Football Federation Australia has issued the Jets with a show cause notice, over Ernie Merrick’s criticism of match officials after Newcastle’s draw with the Wanderers, saying he’s breached the national code of conduct.
Jets officials will now meet to discuss their response, which must be submitted to the FFA before 5pm on March 1.
Newcastle boss Lawrie McKinna has told NBN News that the CEO of another A-League franchise has already offered to pay half of any fine Merrick’s comments may incur.
