GUNNEDAH OVERPASS CALLS FOR TENDERS
After six years in the making, tenders have now opened
for the construction of the Gunnedah overpass.
The $61-million project will see a bridge built west of the Maize Mill on the Oxley Highway, connecting with Warrumbungle Street.
It’s set to improve freight lines and improve traffic flow with trains, which continue to cut the town in half.
“For emergency services that’s a big problem. Time is critical and if there’s an emergency incident on one side of Gunnedah and a train is coming through, they can’t get there unless they go right around the long way,” Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson.
It’s hoped the project is complete by the end of 2020.
