A MILESTONE FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH GROUP
A Newcastle-based research group is marking a milestone – 40 years of breast cancer clinical trials.
The team was today handed the keys to the city, in recognition of its contribution to life-saving treatments.
“One of our things we’re very proud of is that the IBIS-1 trial, that showed that Tamoxifen could reduce breast cancer, Professor Forbes got the first patient world wide on site in Newcastle,” Bruce Mann from Breast Cancer Trials says.
Breast Cancer Trials now has around 800 members across Australia and New Zealand.
