LOCAL GIRL WINS FIRST EVER NEWCASTLE WOMEN-ONLY TRIATHLON

Despite contending with a wedding procession and the cancellation of the swim because of debris, the first ever women-only Newcastle triathlon has been hailed a success.
No one told these girls the swim had been replaced by a 1k run, as the field of almost 300 started in three waves.
Onto the bike and competitors wound their way from Nobbys to Newcastle Baths five times.
Mayfield’s Tynan Jackson was third as they headed for the final transition, but the personal trainer had plenty left in the tank to claim the inaugural event in 38 minutes.
