CONCERNS OVER PLANS TO RE-OPEN COUNCIL STREET
Cooks Hill residents say Newcastle Council’s proposed plan to remove the fixed closure on Council Street will put pedestrians at risk.
More than 50 people joined forces today in opposition of the move.
“The problem with that mainly is that the car park behind the Delaney Hotel, the council car park, the only exit is on Council Street so all traffic will then be diverted onto the residential streets of Cooks Hill,” one of the protesters said.
Council is yet to comment.
