Disgraced former union boss and Central Coast MP, Craig Thomson, has been ordered to pay $378,000 for breaching the Fair Work Act.
The judgment was handed down in the Federal Court this morning and relates to Thomson’s improper use of Health Services Union funds between 2003 and 2009.
Justice Christopher Jessup ordered Thomson to pay the union $231,234 compensation plus $146,937 in interest, but he’ll only have to pay $80,050 if he pays within 74 days.
Justice Jessup said Thomson had shown no contrition or appreciation of the seriousness of the matters against him.
