TAREE INDIGENOUS DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT SECURES NEARLY $2 MILLION
The federal government has granted close to $2-million to not-for-profit organisation Taree Indigenous Development and Employment, hoping to create job opportunities for the Mid North Coast’s Indigenous population.
(“We apply for funds to run programs, not only to find work for our people but also caring for country and I’m really pleased with the work that our rangers are doing at the moment.”)
It’s hoped the roles will be focused in several environmental, cultural and economic projects across the region.
Also wanting to develop the skills of TIDE’s Aboriginal rangers.
(“The scheme has allowed a lot of indigenous people that didn’t have employment opportunities to find jobs, where I come from in Gloucester, there’s nothing there but we’ve got three members there.”)
