The future of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union competition will be the subject of a meeting between first and second division clubs tonight.
The board will open up the floor to a vote on whether the top grade should be reduced from 10 teams to eight.
It wants Nelson Bay and Easts, who finished at the bottom this year, out of the competition.
There’s also talk a team from Singleton could be added.
