CSG SURVEY TO HIT BYRON STREETS

It was standing room only at Byron Council chambers last night as the community questioned a new coal seam gas licence.
The state’s Aboriginal Land Council obtained a petroleum exploration licence for 900 square kilometres of land from Byron to the Tweed.
“I think it staggered a lot of people, i think perhaps Byron Shire might have thought it’s not going to happen to us we are too valuable as far as agricultural land and tourism.”
Those at the meeting resolved to survey the community to see how others feel about the developing industry.
