A 22-year-old staff member has been forced to hide inside a store room, after two men used an axe to break in to a Lake Macquarie service station.
Police say the pair approached the service station on Lake Road at Windale, at around 3 o’clock this morning, forcing their way through the locked door with an axe.
They fled with the till, as well as cigarettes and food.
