There was a lucky escape near Coffs Harbour this morning, with a 61-year-old man forced to abandon his sinking yacht after it lost its keel near Mylestom.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 1am, after the vessel started to take on water.
The vessel coming aground on North Beach, with the skipper, who was travelling from Tasmania to Brisbane, making it to shore.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital for treatment.
