UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER MAPS SHOCKING INDIGENOUS MASSACRES

A University of Newcastle professor is set to rewrite our history books, after years of researching massacres of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Lyndall Ryan has completed stage two of a digital map, which now includes 250 verified massacre sites between 1788 and 1930..
From six to 300 people were killed in each horrific incident.
“It’s came as a shock to me. I was brought up to believe Australia was peacefully settled, I knew there were some massacres, I had no idea of the number I would find, it will change the way we look at the past.” (Prof Lyndall Ryan)
She’s yet to investigate Western Australia, and expects the number of massacres could climb to 500, across the country.
