A NEW DEVICE TO HELP PEOPLE WITH MACULAR DEGENERATION
We often take for granted our ability to read books, text messages or even road signs, but for many suffering from macular degeneration, it’s a daily struggle.
Today, Hastings residents were introduced to innovations in vision technology, including the latest version of the OrCam My Eye.
It’s a wireless, lightweight camera with a built-in computer, which reads text aloud to you.”It’s a way of a person being able to access printed information whether they are reading a book at home, out at a shop, reading a menu at a restaurant, where ever you’ve got text” – Quantum, Reading Learning Vision Managing Director – Tim Connell.
It also has facial recognition capabilities.
