GLEN INNES COUNCIL TO TABLE DROUGHT RELIEF MEASURES
Drought will be top of the agenda when Glen Innes Council meets tomorrow night.
Councillor Steve Toms says he’ll be using his Mayoral Minute to see what more Council can do to assist those on the land.
The motion will include waiving water charges for water being carted for domestic use, where rural customers are under financial stress.
It’s said to be a minimal financial impact to council – the estimated cost around $5,000 over a 6 month period.
The Mayor acknowledged the positive work of other Councils across the region and is now stepping up itself.
