500 METRES OF COPPER WIRE STOLEN AT LAKE MACQUARIE

Ausgrid is reminding people of the risk of interfering with electrical wires, after thieves stole 500 metres of copper wire at Lake Macquarie.

The incident happened on Awaba Road at Toronto West on Saturday, with Ausgrid crews discovering two spans of 33,000 volt overhead power lines had been cut down.

A similar incident happened at Port Stephens on Tuesday, with emergency crews discovering metal guards had been removed and copper earth cables taken.
