Lake Macquarie Council is embracing new technology, installing a solar-powered ‘smart bench’ on the Warners Bay foreshore.
It’s the first of its kind in the Hunter… and more are on the way.
“Wireless charging of compatible devices, as well as a couple of USB ports…we’ll develop this as a WiFi hotspot…” says Lake Macquarie City Council’s Andrew Bryant.
Meanwhile, the council’s rolled out a novel initiative at Blacksmiths Beach… encouraging visitors to snap a picture from a special cradle and upload it, so the coastline’s changes can be tracked over time.
