FRASER CALLS FOR MILK PRICE INCREASE FOR FARMERS
Coffs Harbour MP, Andrew Fraser, says he’s written to the managing directors of Woolworths, Coles and Aldi requesting a 20 cent per litre increase in the price of milk – all of which is to be passed on to dairy farmers.
They’re feeling the pinch as the drought forces fodder prices to spiral upwards.
“the cost to farmers at the moment is absurd because they ar the one industry which supplementary feeds all year round, the price of hay and the price of grain has more than doubled.” (runs: 12 secs: ends, than doubled)
Mr Fraser says if the prices paid to dairy farmers don’t increase, many will be forced out of business and the cost of milk will increase.
