FOUR CONFIRMED MEASLES CASES IN COFFS HARBOUR

Four children have now been been diagnosed with measles in the Coffs Harbour-Woolgoolga area, prompting an urgent warning from health officials.
The outbreak is believed to have started after a child returned from a holiday in south-east Asia, carrying the infection.
All four school-aged patients had not been vaccinated against the illness.
New South Wales Health has issued a list of potential exposure sites in late August which include: Woolgoolga town centre, Coffs Harbour CBD and CHC Medical Centre.
The Director of the North Coast Public Health Unit, Dr Paul Corben, said “anyone who was in these locations should watch for symptoms. As the investigaion is ongoing, other places and times of potential exposure may be identified. People should be alert to symptoms until 17 September.”
The symptoms of measles include fever, coughing, sore eyes and a red blotchy rash over most of the body.
Anyone with signs of infection is urged to consult their GP immediately.
