  1. Disgraceful one sided story taking a single unproved allegation from 18 months ago and turning it into a news item that presents as if it just happened. Ignores the deep caring work that teachers and learning support officers are doing every day. I believe the reporter similarly bashed an educational institution re Remembrance Day last year, again one sided and without apology for the suffering she caused a school community. Be unbiased, get your facts right, deliver news not editorials NBN. The reporter, the news editor and producer should be ashamed.

  2. Ben, I love how presumptuous you have been for someone who knows nothing about the story! So please do refrain from making ill informed comments based upon your own biased beliefs.

There were apparently multiple incidents of bruising of children within the same unit, similar to the child in the news. There was a witness account of child abuse by a teachers aide to another child .

There were accounts of teaching staff pinning children to the floor in an attempt to cut their nails unbeknown to the parents.

The child referred to himself as a retard after a day at the unit. The children were all virtually non-verbal at the unit.

There were multiple cases of children being isolated or disciplined by the teachers aide in question for having sensory processing disorder.

The child in question was found wandering outside the unit at age 3 years of age. He was found by two different sets of grandparents. The DEC have denied this to date. They have failed to interview the witnesses, despite their media statement otherwise, and claim “hear say”.

The report does not ‘bash’ teachers, but those teachers who bring the whole profession into disrepute and the system that hides abuse. I think you will find that the family involved are very pro-education and schools. All it took was a quick internet search.

Then again, given your ill informed post, your experience with any education must be limited.
